As member of leadership team, directs strategy development, planning and administrative management of assigned areas by establishing and maintaining standards focusing on effective translation of strategy into operational objectives and specific, measurable goals and associated deliverables consistent with practice standards and requirements and which align/support overall mission, vision and values of the Corporation.

Current and unrestricted licensed M.D. or D.O.
At least 10 years clinical experience, Primary Care Preferred; and 5 years in a leadership role
Current basic CPR designation or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire

Essential Functions

As Chief Medical Officer, provides institutional and clinical leadership/consultation for other involved professionals on diverse treatment issues

Actively participates in development, review and evaluation of decisions effecting policies and procedures, program planning and integration of hospital goals and objectives

Provides leadership and education to the clinical faculty, staff and other providers regarding clinical practice requirements

Serves as Chair of medical staff and other health care committees to facilitate coordination of treatment

Establishes, monitors and oversees all quality management activities for the hospital; performs risk assessment review and responds to questions/concerns regarding standards of medical practice

Establishes, monitors and oversees compliment of medical staff and provider resources to ensure appropriate skill and competency combination to adequately meet patient medical needs

Works collaboratively with other medical and specialty groups to discuss continuity of care and ensure availability of consultative services for cases requiring complex approaches

Plans, develops and evaluates innovative methods and practices to expand healthcare access into the community

Directs and participates in a variety of reports and studies involving complex analysis, organizational and administrative initiatives.

Facilitates planning efforts for assigned areas, focusing on effective translation of strategy into operational objectives and specific, measurable goals with associated deliverables consistent and in support of the hospital’s goals.

Analyzes financial and operational details of past, present, and expected activities in order to identify development opportunities and areas where improvement is needed.

Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal, licensing and state policies and directives, and current medical practice standards.

Develops and supervises staff through provision of timely feedback and use of appropriate Human Resource policies and tools to facilitate and ensure the ability of staff to achieve highest level of professional growth and desired performance standards

Develops, implements and evaluates utilization review practices and methods to monitor provider activities to ensure maximum efficiency for revenue opportunities

Works closely with Director, Pharmacy to review medication and formulary usage for identification of potential cost savings through alternative therapies

Provides clinical coverage for pediatric, adult and geriatric patients served to ensure provision of a comprehensive continuum of care

Maintains knowledge and proficiency in medical practices through continuing education, staff meetings and workshop participation

Acts as patient advocate, addresses community concerns/complaints and/or issues regarding access to healthcare including availability to traditional medicine alternatives; identifies areas for improvement and initiates changes as appropriate

Provides clinical leadership and consultation for other professionals by providing expertise in various therapeutic interventions

Participates in departmental orientation, on the job training and quality assurance programs/initiatives

Participates in a variety of department and hospital educational programs to maintain current skill and competency levels; identifies and discusses performance or training needs with Supervisor


 May be requested to perform duties during non-routine clinic hours and/or at other associated clinic sites
