Globe, AZ - Full Time

• The purpose of this position is to facilitate the justice process by conducting investigations and providing support during trials.

  This position conducts investigations into a wide variety of criminal and civil cases that are handled by the Gila County Attorney’s Office. Duties include coordinating and managing courtroom security, assisting prosecutors, collecting and coordinating evidence for use in trials and testifying in court.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Conducts criminal and civil investigations; provides technical and investigative assistance to other agencies on major cases; provides assistance to other jurisdictions, including State and Federal law enforcement agencies, and works as liaison officer between law enforcement officers and departmental staff; and conducts internal investigations within agency or for others at request of Gila County Attorney or that person's designee, as needed.
• Coordinates court room security for safety of all attending procedures: coordinates, handles, and moves dangerous prisoners in and out of the courthouse; and provides armed security for staff during courtroom proceedings and daily office operations.
• Testifies in court as expert witness in specialized field of investigations, as needed.
• Staffs, analyzes, conducts research and makes recommendations on information that will assist prosecutors.
• Assists prosecutors with jury trials and preparations; serves subpoenas on witnesses, victims, officers and records that will be used in trial; coordinates and handles evidence at prosecutors' direction; coordinates and safely transports evidence from multiple agencies and to trial, and assists Clerk of Court to properly dispose of evidence when case becomes adjudicated; and conducts background investigation on all parties involved in criminal proceedings.
• Provides technical and investigative assistance to other law enforcement agencies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education Required 

• Associates Degree.

Minimum Years of Directly Related Experience Required

• Five (5) years experience.

Professional Credentials Required

• Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

• AZ Post Certification, Field Training Officer, Criminal Investigations Certification.
