Seeking part-time instructor in Globe for county Adult Education program. 15 – 20 hours/week in person. Position is responsible for instructing 5-15 adult learners in reading, writing, science and mathematical content knowledge to improve basic skills and/or prepare for a GED credential.
Duties:
- Be aware of Adults as Learners and differences from grade level instruction.
- Follow curriculum and prepare teaching materials. Develop or select instructional activities which foster active involvement of students in the learning process.
- Possess a willingness to go beyond routine activities and be innovative.
- Adjust your curriculum and style to adapt to diversified strengths and weaknesses.
- Work on skills that will help students find jobs, such as resume building and interview techniques.
- Assess students for possible learning disabilities/issues.
- Assist students in accessing, interpreting and evaluating information from multiple sources.
- Collaborate with other instructors on Program and instructional decisions.
- Participate in staff development activities, staff meetings, and curriculum development activities as required or assigned.
- Maintain accurate data and student records using state data system.
- Possess the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Possess working skills in the use of technology to deliver instruction, communicate via email and teach basic computer skills to the adult learner.
- Coordinate students required contact hours and progress.
- Recruit/call enrolled students and their parents to encourage attendance and progress in earning their GED.
- Provide feedback to students with a focus on improving student performance.
- Communicate high expectations for learning to all students.
Minimum Qualifications: A degree in education or related field with an Adult Education certificate (can be submitted after hiring). Experience teaching adult students is preferred. Must demonstrate a commitment and ability to serve a diverse community, including low-income students.
