The City of Globe is accepting applications for Summer Lifeguards.  This position assists with the overall operation of the Globe Community Center Pool, ensuring the safety of all who use the facility. Tentative Pool opening date May 1st – 15th.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of 10th grade or 15 years of age. 
  • Lifeguard, Water park, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certifications from a professionally recognized provider such as American Red Cross, Ellis or Starfish.
  • Other combinations of experience and education which meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted. 
  • Must be able to pass drug screen and background check.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Ensure that pool rules and regulations are followed.
  • Administer lifesaving techniques and first aid.
  • Supervise and participate in the issuance, use, care and maintenance of aquatic supplies and equipment.
  • Communicate positively and effectively with co-workers, parents, pool patrons, program participants, coaches, and volunteers.
  • Participate in staff training sessions and lifesaving techniques and drills.
  • Provide support for access to programs, buildings, and services.
  • Maintain discipline in and around swimming pool areas; create and maintain a safe environment for patrons.
  • Support the City’s policies, goals and objectives and work with management and other staff to ethically achieve such goals and objectives; ensure compliance with safety procedures.
  • Performs rescue and administers artificial respiration, CPR and first aid.
  • Checks the proper maintenance of equipment and sanitation of pools and bathhouse facilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in outside weather conditions with high exposure to the sun. Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, run, and climb. Required to demonstrate the ability to swim a continuous 500 yards’ while performing the breaststroke, backstroke, sidestroke, and freestyle; tread water for two minutes using legs and feet only. Must be able to dive into twelve (12) feet of water and retrieve a 10-pound weight; swim 25 yards in 25 seconds with a rescue tube underneath body doing approach or breaststroke and demonstrate rescue techniques and skills. Vision abilities required by this job include close perception, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employees are regularly required to reach with hands and arms, and to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, and equipment.

 May work a flexible schedule which includes nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
