The Outreach Instructional Assistant will work with a team from University of Arizona Cooperative Extension to promote and deliver interactive early literacy workshops for parents and other caregivers of young children throughout the San Carlos Apache Region. They will work with community partners and a community advisory board. More information about the early literacy program can be found here: https://extension.arizona.edu/gowa
This position is a temporary position lasting from January – June 30, 2024. However, there is the possibility to renew for three additional years. It is a contract position and the person filling this position will work from home when not providing the workshops in the community. We anticipate that there will be about 15-20 hours of work per week and the rate of pay is a flat rate for delivering 78 one-hour workshops in the San Carlos community.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, family studies or related field OR the equivalent in work experience.
• 1 year of relevant experience working with families with young children
• Ability to drive according to the University’s Fleet Safety Policy
Preferred Qualifications:
       • Experience with Apache language and culture.
       • Experience working with the San Carlos Apache community.
       • Experience working with families with young children and comfortability interacting with young children.
       • Experience creating community collaborations and organizing programming with multiple organizations.
