The City of Globe is accepting applications for a Construction/Utilities Inspector. A Construction/Utility Inspector performs quality assurance inspections on a variety of civil engineering and public works projects completed by the City, private developers, and utility companies, ensuring the projects meet appropriate City and industry standards. The Construction/Utility Inspector will work with the City Engineer to coordinate construction activities with contractors and the project team as well as attend various meetings to provide status updates, identify problem areas, and recommend resolutions.
Desired Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Basic knowledge of construction or maintenance plans or blueprints
- Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to three years full-time employment in paraprofessional engineering
- Experience involving inspection and final acceptance of contract work; contract administration; working with non-City utilities
- Direct interaction with the public in resolving problems
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, and the public
- Ability to multitask and maintain focuses on priority projects both in the field and in the office
- Ability to problem solve, obtain assigned goals and act proactively
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing and electronically
- Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions
- Ability and willingness to perform other duties as assigned
- Computer skills including MS Word, Outlook (email) and project management applications
- Surveying skills, GIS experience, and experience working with a tablet are beneficial
- Ability to perform field tasks for extended periods of time
- Valid Arizona Driver’s A current CDL will be considered a plus
- Must be able to pass drug screen, physical exam, and background check
