The City of Globe is currently seeking applicants for a NON-EXEMPT (eligible for overtime) Grade 6 position in the Public Works Department. This position will operate non-traditional hours (A Shift Wed-Sat four 10-hour shifts; B Shift Sun-Wed four 10-hour shifts) to support City recreational infrastructure and events on evenings, weekends and holidays. Primary goal is to provide maintenance and assistance to ensure residents using City parks and facilities have a quality experience using clean and well-maintained parks, fields, facilities, restrooms, pool, and event. Secondary goal is to respond and investigate possible after hour calls for services for street, water, or wastewater. May be assigned to other departments or duties depending on the City of Globe needs.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, and
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience relating to parks, recreation, pool maintenance, landscaping, maintenance, or repair.
- Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License.
- Certified Pool Operator (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire).
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be self-motivated and able to stay on task while not under direct supervision.
- Requires excellent customer services skill.
- Pro-active work habits and identification of needed preventative maintenance.
- Strong problem-solving skills and good judgement.
- Ability to verbally communicate effectively with residents, event attendees and members of the public, employees, and other departments.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct cleanliness checks of all parks and facilities and take action as required.
- Check, service, and secure bathrooms on an after-hours schedule.
- Ensure all parks, fields and playground equipment are in proper working order.
- Identify, resolve, or report any safety issue you may become aware of.
- Check and empty any downtown or public trash cans or spillages.
- Conduct daily pool inspections, cleaning, and water quality checks.
- Assist park, field, ramada, bounce houses, or special event permit holders to ensure successful event.
- Conduct electrical checks and light repairs to ensure safety.
- Ensure that everyone has a positive recreation experience in the City of Globe.
